One idea that I found out about when writing an essay was to check your facts more often than I check my facts in real life. When I check my facts as I'm writing, I'm generally writing with my thoughts rather than facts.When you read the piece and realize you're not actually quoting something or thinking through your pieces, you need to re-check your facts and be sure you are really paraphrasing. You could make something up that turns out to be quite fitting because you didn't know it was real.For instance, someone could say, 'He looked really happy when he talked to me, and the line made me think he was sincere. When I actually listened to the line, it makes me think of how hard it is to meet people's expectations, and I did meet the girl he was talking t o, but I didn't meet his expectations. What I mean is that I'm happy with the way I talk to girls, but I have trouble meeting the girl's expectations.'That's a great example, but if you don't take the time to really look at it and think about the line, you're only re-writing a part of the sample. If you take the time to go back and look at the sentence, you will see that the writer did a thorough analysis and find the most meaningful line to the piece, which is also the one that interests you the most.To better understand what you should be looking for, the author of the sample wrote, 'We're all excited, and this line tells me what I want to hear. I hope it doesn't seem obvious, but I found it intriguing that a line could have that many emotions attached to it.' It is important to remember to check your facts throughout the essay, and it is also important to make sure you are thinking of each and every line of the essay, even if it seems silly and unrelated to the main concept.A wri ter will always have that line in mind that they love the most, even if it is written down as an example. The second usage of this meaning also carries significant dramatic irony with it. Iago uses it to refence to his own honour, telling Othello that although he does not like the job Othello has given him, to find out if Desdemona is cheating, he has been Pricked tot by foolish honesty, and love. Iago means that he will continue to tell Othello the truth. However, Shakespeare has created intense dramatic irony, for we see that Iago has been anything but telling Othello the complete truth, rather he is telling him only half. The second use of the word is directed towards both Cassio and Desdemona, in separate instances. The first time is directed to Cassio. Othello continues to question Iago about Cassios honesty, to which Iago replies I dare be sworn I think that he is honest. Iago knows that Cassio ishonest, at least in the terms that Othello would care about. However, the specific wording that Shakespeare has chosen seems allows Othello to read into Iagos speech, that while Iago has no evidence to prove otherwise, he doubts Cassios honesty. Iago has also changed the meaning of the word slightly, to mean that Cassio is faithful, that he is not sleeping with Desdemona. It is as if Iago is having a fun time, pretending that he is not sure if Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair. However, Iago himself remains truthful to Othello, in the sense that he is not lying to him. However, his word usage suggests otherwise. Othello believes that Iago means that he would lie to protect him, as Iago wishes him to, however, we know that just the opposite is actually occuring. Iago again plays with Othellos mind later, telling him that Honestys a fool. Iago is almost laughing in Othellos face. He tells Othello that honesty will get a man nowhere, something Iago obviously believes based on his actions in this play. He uses the word to try to persuade Othello to find out about Desdemona, but he is actually using it to justify his own actions to the audience, Shakespeare has him say this line almost to provide the incentive for Iago to lie to Othello. Shakespeare is showing us the way Iagos mind thinks with this line, that in order to get ahead, a man must lie. This usage is used by Iago to create the subtext again, to make Othello think that Iago is being completely truthful with him, although we know that he has not. Shakespeare has Iago use the word honest in three different forms to greatly contribute to the subtext between Othello and Iago, and to further the action line for Othello. Iago uses the word almost laughingly behind Othellos back, telling him that he has been driven to honesty, when he know that Iago is only telling Othello half truths. In Book 5, when Odysseus tells Calypso he is leaving soon, one can see that Calypso and Odysseus were lovers, (5. 248-251), â€Å" Even as he spoke the sun set and the darkness swept the earth. Sleeping with another goddess extends the journey once more. The last moment is a mixture. Odysseus takes longer to get home by stopping at multiple islands. He stays at different islands, but not for a long time. One of the important islands he stays at, is the island of Polyphemus, the one-eyed monster. The man of twists and turns escapes the island by stabbing Polyphemus in the eye. (9. 559-662) If any man on the face of the earth should ask you who blinded you, shamed you so-say Odysseus, raider of cities, he gouged out your eye, Laertes’ son who makes his home in Ithaca! † After leaving the island of Polyphemus, the crew battles Poseidon, who always tries to get rid of Odysseus or make him shipwreck most of the time. Poseidon plays a big part in Odysseus’ long journey. Because of Poseidon, Odysseus and his men had to stop at numerous places. The last place Odysseus visits is Scheria, the land of the Phaeacians. Odysseus is not to be seen as the blame of this event. He shows his hubris by stabbing the Cyclops in the eye in order to escape. The blame in this event is Polyphemus and Poseidon. Polyphemus keeps Odysseus and his crew captive. Poseidon slows Odysseus’ journey by torturing him at sea, by shipwrecking them and making them stop at an island. These examples of Odysseus’ journey show Odysseus’ heroism. Beginning with the battle at Troy, it takes Odysseus a total of 20 years of traveling to finally get home. Odysseus faces an army, gods, and goddesses, and still returns home. He stays alive in a war that has been lasting for 10 years. Great Odysseus is a hero from that war. After the war, Odysseus lives while dealing with the punishments of Poseidon and goddesses, such as Circe and Calypso. His heroism is clearly seen throw his brave actions such as: stabbing Calypso in the eye. The most important event of his heroism being shown is when he does return to Ithaca. This shows that he has overcame his ourney and took back what is his, like a real hero should do. The war Odysseus faces, the gods he’s overcome and the islands he’s gotten away from, is an act of heroism. At the island of Circe, Odysseus struggled to leave under the influence of a goddess. Lustrous Calypso is a goddess who is temptatious and deceiving to the eye, Odysseus shows his strength by getting away fr om the goddess and remembering whom he is completing this journey for. The Odyssey is a legendary story that displays a man completing a journey that readers admire as heroic and extraordinary.
